Claire Underwood (Pictures) and David Hodgson (Words) have been creatively collaborating for over 20 years. In that time they’ve worked on more than 120 projects ranging from TV series to web games and licensing to logos.

The Pesky story began in 1995 when Claire and David met whilst working at Epic Multimedia in Brighton, UK. Together they created a cartoony virtual pet, ‘CyberPest’ for the CD-ROM market.

In the years that followed Claire and David generated tons of concepts, characters and cartoons from their London studio for clients including the BBC, Channel 4, Cartoon Network, MTV, Nestle and Philips.

During this time Pesky built a reputation as innovators of interactive animation – (RIP Pesky Flash website!) Their playful and immersive style proved ideal for websites like The Big Breakfast, Fruitella, Espresso Education, BBC Radio 2 and CBeebies online.

Whilst working on projects for clients, Pesky were also developing their own TV series and interactive concepts – some in collaboration with eOne, HIT and Disney. David also developed a feature film alongside absurdist cartoonist, Glen Baxter.

Between 2002-2007 Pesky produced ‘The Amazing Adrenalini Brothers!’ The show started as shorts for CBBC, and ended up as a 78 x 7 minute series showing in over 80 countries worldwide and winning major honours, including a coveted BAFTA.

‘The Invisible Network of Kids’ – a TV series that Claire and David pitched at Cartoon Forum in 2002, has been further developed and produced into the international top-rating half hour series from French producer Samka.

In 2014 Pesky completed their first preschool production, ‘Boj’, created and directed by Claire, produced by David and in collaboration with head writer Dave Ingham. The series is now championed by some of the world’s best broadcasters, including CBeebies (UK), ABC (Australia), Sprout (US), Zouzous (France), Clan (Spain), and many more. Boj is now embarking on his journey from successful TV character to global licensing brand, with exciting plans for 2016.

Looking towards the next 20 years, Claire and David continue to think up fresh ideas for a new generation – in their inimitable pesky style!
